Discover The Koop: Korean Chicken And Cuisine

The Koop: Korean Chicken And Cuisine is a gem located in the heart of State College, PA. Tucked at 129 Locust Ln, this cozy diner offers a unique twist on classic Korean comfort food with a focus on its signature crispy chicken. From the moment you walk in, the warm ambiance and the mouth-watering smells of freshly cooked dishes will immediately grab your attention.

The restaurant's interior gives off a welcoming vibe with minimalist decor and simple touches that allow the food to take center stage. Whether you're sitting down for a quick bite or a leisurely meal with friends, The Koop offers a comfortable environment where you can truly enjoy every dish.

One of the highlights of The Koop is its menu, which is a delightful fusion of traditional Korean flavors and modern twists. Of course, the star of the show is the crispy Korean fried chicken. Each piece is perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside. The signature Korean sauces-spicy, sweet, or savory-add layers of flavor that make the chicken even more irresistible. Whether you prefer boneless or bone-in, The Koop has you covered, ensuring that every bite bursts with flavor.

Aside from the chicken, the menu also features other Korean favorites like bibimbap, bulgogi, and japchae. The bibimbap is served in a hot stone bowl, giving it that extra crispy rice crunch that’s so satisfying. The bulgogi, marinated beef cooked to perfection, is tender and packed with flavor. And the japchae, with its stir-fried glass noodles and vegetables, is a perfect side to complement the richness of the other dishes.

The restaurant also offers a range of sides that elevate the meal. The kimchi is tangy and spicy, the perfect balance to the richness of the fried chicken. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert options are equally impressive, including traditional Korean treats like hotteok (sweet pancakes) that provide a lovely end to the meal.

The Koop is also known for its friendly and attentive service. The staff is always happy to recommend dishes if you’re unsure what to try. During my visit, I asked about their popular items, and the server was quick to highlight the Korean fried chicken and bibimbap as top picks. Their genuine passion for the food is evident, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable.

Another reason to visit The Koop is its accessibility. Located at 129 Locust Ln, it’s a perfect spot for both locals and visitors to drop by. Whether you're grabbing a quick meal on your lunch break or planning a dinner outing with friends or family, The Koop is conveniently located, making it easy to enjoy a delicious meal in State College.

In addition to the in-person dining experience, The Koop offers takeout and delivery services, so you can enjoy their signature dishes in the comfort of your home. Their online ordering system is user-friendly, ensuring that even if you’re not dining in, you can still indulge in their incredible Korean cuisine.

One thing to note is that The Koop's popularity means it can get busy, especially during peak hours. If you're planning to visit during dinner time, it might be a good idea to make a reservation or be prepared for a short wait. However, once you take that first bite of the crispy chicken, you'll quickly realize it was well worth the wait.

Overall, The Koop: Korean Chicken And Cuisine has quickly become a favorite for many in State College. From the food to the atmosphere, it offers a truly authentic and satisfying dining experience that leaves you craving more. Whether you’re a fan of Korean cuisine or a newcomer to these flavors, The Koop provides a delightful journey for your taste buds.

  • We had a I wonderful date night at The Koop yesterday night. The vibe was comfortable and fun. You get to snag a menu and grab a seat for dine in. Which is nice since we could take our time making a decision on what we wanted to try first. The staff was helpful and friendly. He made great recommendations to us. While waiting for our food we enjoyed the cute, hilarious and rowdy doodles on the wall. Fun to spot funny signatures and add ourselves to the collection <3 Everything we got was our favorite! Since we are in from out of town, we ordered for leftovers :D We had a potato, chz and spicy mayo k-dog (obviously my husband's favorite, just look at his face haha). A Ramen, hot dog, spicy mayo kdog. Bulgogi (add egg) with pickled radish, kimichi and green radish. Chicken with side of sweet spicy sauce & soy garlic sauce. It was all amazing. Yes, they charge for extra sides of sauce, radish. It is worth it, it takes time, effort, love and you can taste it. I wouldn't expect that for free (in response to a unfair one star review-in my opinion- I read before going) It is SO worth it <3 Music was great and the tv was playing kpop music videos, which are super fun to enjoy. The drawing on the walls were super entertaining too haha I highly recommend trying them out. It was excellent!

  • Recommended by a Korean friend. The food is really authentic, reminded me of my trip in Seoul last year! The broth & ingredient taste of sundubu-jjigae (tofu stew) is really similar to my experience in Seoul. Took a bit longer time to have the food tho. Staffs are friendly.

  • Fried dumplings very yummy. Beef bimbimbap very yummy. FANCY CORNDOG MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMPH bussin. Potato exterior with 50/50 interior and ketchup+cheddar sauce, trust. The cheese pull is legendary. Almost gave service a 4 bc im lazy and you do have to walk a few meters to order/get utensils but that would just be crazy honestly. More than adequate range of utensils available, solid disposable chopsticks, very nice staff when I was there. Mostly just love the vibe of the place, customers can get a sharpie and contribute to the wall decor which can only be described as sprawling scrawls. Love the concept. Kpop music in the background, nice. Well-maintained bathrooms. Overall really no complaints.

  • Let’s start with the fact that the staff is absolutely amazing! I felt welcomed from the second I stepped in. Second, the Korean dog was perfect - made fresh with melted cheese and delicious dough. I have been craving a Korean dog for a while and this is the place to get one! The Kimbap was nice, the restaurant itself is small but cute, and I enjoyed trying to read the writings on the wall:)
